The client needed to modernize its production server infrastructure — standing up new, properly configured virtualization hosts and migrating ten production servers, including domain controllers, SQL, web, file, and application servers, onto them without disrupting day-to-day operations or risking data loss along the way.
We unboxed, racked, and cabled new Dell PowerEdge R940 servers, updated firmware, configured RAID storage, installed Windows Server with Hyper-V, and set up VLANs and network segmentation, then planned and executed a sequenced migration of the client's ten production servers onto the new hosts — critical systems first, then file and application servers, then development and archive environments — validating each server's connectivity, dependencies, and performance before moving on to the next. The work spanned two data centers, one in Orlando, Florida and one in Atlanta, Georgia, with the Atlanta location acting as an active failover site, plus a full backup and recovery solution implemented and tested across both.
The client's production environment now runs on new, properly documented Hyper-V infrastructure across two data centers with an active failover site, verified backups, and a tested recovery process. All ten servers were migrated in priority order with each one validated post-migration, and the project closed with updated documentation and stakeholder sign-off — no unplanned downtime along the way.
